Description
Tanzania’s Ngorongoro Crater is a ‘caldera’- an extinct volcano – in which the rich soils and fertile grasslands support an astonishing abundance of wildlife. Large herds of Buffalo, Zebra and Wildebeest along with their predators: Lion, Spotted Hyena and Leopard, as well as endangered Black Rhinoceros, and African Elephant bulls with massive tusks. Â Lake Magadi is visited by hundreds of flamingos, ducks and other waterfowl. The rim of the Crater lies 200 metres above the floor and is a misty, forested world of mossy trees. The Crater and surrounding hills and valleys forms the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and is contiguous with the Serengeti National Park.
